Improving Health and Fitness

I have got really obsessive about health and fitness lately. I think because my Mother had a heart scare it made me feel very vulnerable. It made me worry about the fact that heart problems seem to run in the family, I was not eating healthily or exercising and I have young children. I decided that I needed to eat more healthily, lose weight and get more exercise and I started improving myself immediately. I soon was a healthy weight and exercising most days but the best thing is that now my whole family eat more healthily, not just me.

Family Health

It can be quite tricky to improve the families health. I find that it is hard work getting my husband to eat his vegetables, let alone the children. I have found that a good trick is to blend the vegetables to make a sauce and put it on pizzas and pastas. Also to slowly introduce new vegetables with meals that they normally like – then one foreign food might be more acceptable. It works really well for me and my children now start eating their vegetables before the rest of the food on their plate. I now just have to work on my husband!

It is odd that these days we seem to live in extremes. There are the really overweight people who can hardly move and the skinny fitness freaks who do not eat enough. Getting a good balance can be really tricky. I find that to be able to follow a healthy eating and fitness program, I do have to be obsessive about it to give myself the proper amount of commitment. However, this is not always good if you go to far and lose too much weight and exercise all of the time. Finding a healthy balance for you and your family is what to aim for.
